Toronto Eaton Centre

When I was a small boy the Eaton Centre did not exist. Rather, the Eaton’s department store stood in its place. On the corner of Yonge St. and Queen St., considered the heart of downtown at the time, was Woolworth’s flagship department store in Toronto. Surrounding it was Eaton’s. Across the street was Simpson’s. I remember seeing the store front windows of of both Eaton’s and Simpson’s decorated for Christmas. It was amazing. Eaton’s and Woolworth are long gone, and Simpson’s is now The Bay. At least The Bay still decorates their storefront windows for Christmas, albeit pretty darn early, if you ask me. I took a few photos of their Christmas windows, which I’ll post another time. Anyway, this photo is of the south entrance (on Queen St.) of the Eaton Centre. I did some post processing to achieve a colour and lighting effect. The original shot doesn’t look nearly as dramatic. I like the finished product but understand it might not be to everyone’s taste. Hope you like it. By the way, many of my photos have nothing to do with the Heritage Lighting Event last night, but I figured, hey, I’m out, I might as well shoot as much as possible. This is one of the random lot.
